This Privacy Policy explains how screen01 ("Application", "we", "us", or "our"), a macOS desktop application created by Mack ("Service Provider"), collects, uses, and protects your information. screen01 is provided as a free service and is intended for use "AS IS".
screen01 is a macOS-native screen recording application. It captures your screen content locally on your device to produce recordings. We are committed to being transparent about what data we handle and — just as importantly — what data we do not.
Information We Collect
Screen & Window Capture
screen01 uses macOS screen-capture APIs to record your selected display or application window. All recordings are processed and stored locally on your Mac. We do not upload, transmit, or store your screen recordings on any server.
Email Address
We may collect your email address if you voluntarily provide it (for example, when contacting support or signing up for updates). We use your email solely to:
- Respond to support requests
- Send important product notices (e.g., security updates)
- Send occasional marketing or promotional communications
You may opt out of marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at mack@screen01.app.
Basic Usage Analytics
We may collect limited, anonymized analytics data such as your operating system version, app version, and general usage patterns. This data helps us improve screen01 and does not personally identify you.
What We Do Not Collect or Store
- We do not store your screen recordings on our servers
- We do not collect precise geolocation data

Third-Party Access
Only aggregated, anonymized data may be shared with external services to help us improve screen01. We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

- When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others

Data Retention
Since screen01 processes recordings locally on your device, we do not retain your screen capture data. We take reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural measures to safeguard your information. Because screen recordings never leave your device, your captured content remains under your control at all times.

Your Rights Under the CCPA & CPRA (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) grants you specific rights regarding your personal information.

- Right to Know — You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources of that information, the business purpose for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
- Right to Delete — You may request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Correct — You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing — We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we do not engage in these practices, there is no need to opt out.
- Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information — We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA.
- Right to Non-Discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.

In accordance with CalOPPA, we agree to the following:
- Users can visit our site and use our application anonymously.
- This Privacy Policy link is accessible from our home page and includes the word "Privacy".
- You will be notified of any Privacy Policy changes on this page.
- You can change your personal information by emailing us at mack@screen01.app.
Do Not Track Signals
We honor Do Not Track (DNT) signals. When a DNT browser mechanism is enabled, we do not track you across third-party websites. screen01 does not engage in cross-site tracking.
Children's Privacy
screen01 is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at mack@screen01.app and we will promptly delete it.
Opt-Out & Uninstall
You can stop all data collection by screen01 by uninstalling the application. You may remove screen01 by dragging it to Trash from your Applications folder, or by using any standard macOS uninstall method.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of screen01 after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
